Stick!Ball

When 10,000 people in California are selling real estate, you gotta do something else! Seriously! I moved to California from Little Rock two years ago to be nearer my grandchildren and to (presumably) make my fortune in real estate. I got caught up instead in the creativity and energy and multi-culturalism that is the Bay Area! In August 2004, I put a few dolls together for a neighborhood street fair and before I knew what was happening, I was out of the real estate business and into creative manufacturing!

My mother taught me to sew about 45 years ago, and I have been making things out of fabric ever since. Designing and making patchwork quilts is my favorite thing to do in the whole world. I never thought of myself as an artist, but do realize that I have a certain fascination for pattern and color and fabric, and an obvious ability to make things out of it. So, last fall, I worked from dawn to dusk every day for three months creating all manner of figural objects-from cactus to cherries. Most were relegated to the "seemed like a good idea at the time" stack, but I finally got a collection together that I thought other people might like. I looked up one day in the middle of my pile of scraps and decided that since I was clearly making sticks and balls my company name could be Stickball. And so it is and here we are.
