Sherri Blum
Sherri Blum has always been the artistic type and loves putting her talents to use designing beautiful rooms for her clients. She coordinates paints, fabrics, furniture and accessories with ease and creates unique and wonderful rooms. She has a Bachelor's Degree from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of DTI, Decorator's Training Institute. She has completed the highest level of training and certification from C.I.D. and is a Professional Member of Certified Interior Decorators International.
Sherri began her own design company, Bare Walls Design Co. in 2000 and has since opened Jack and Jill Interiors in 2003 which specializes in the design of children's rooms. She especially enjoys decorating children's spaces because she can interact with the child to discover his or her unique personality and express that personality through her room design. She also thoroughly enjoys painting whimsical designs, and decorating for children allows her more opportunity to put that talent to work.
This love of art and whimsy led to the creation of her own designer line of children's wall art and hand hooked wool signature rugs, Sherri Blum Designs which opened in 2004. While designing nurseries for her clients, Sherri realized the need for portable murals and personalized wall art for her clients who wish to give their children beautiful wall murals, but who are concerned about the possibility of job transfers and moving to new homes after such a large investment. Therefore, Sherri decided to create a line of large scale, hand painted and personalized children's and nursery wall hangings. These 3'x2' wall hangings make a unique and beautiful substitute for permanent murals. They have a rod pocket sewn in and come ready to hang with a dowel rod and ribbon. When the need arises, the wall hanging can simply be rolled up, placed in a tube and stored away for the next nursery, moved to a new bedroom or even saved for the next generation to enjoy.
And so Sherri Blum Designs was born. Sherri's designs, advice and exclusive line of hand painted children's wall art have been featured in numerous print and online publications including Pregnancy Magazine, Maryland Woman Magazine, ePregnancy Magazine, HGTV, Vermont Home Style, Families First, Northwest Woman, Tidewater Parent, Suburban Focus, Pregnancy Today, Baby Zone, Modern Babies and Children, The Baltimore Sun and many more. Her decorating tips were requested and published in a book entitled Mothers Know Best and two of her nurseries along with her GROW wall hanging are featured in the 2006 edition of the popular nursery design book, Ideas for Great Baby Rooms by Sunset. In the spring of 2006, Sherri received an exclusive invitation to share her designs with the celebrity stars of Hollywood at the Oscar's Boom Boom Room, a great honor for her.
