Jeffrey Manpearl has been cutting steel for over twenty years. Originally trained as an Architect, he first began cutting steel while an undergraduate at U.C. Berkeley. While earning his Masters at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, Jeffrey continued experimenting with steel and began to develop his unique designs and the inspirational sayings which have become the trademark of his playful and joyous sculptures.
Each and every sculpture Jeffrey makes is a unique and individual item of original design and creation made by hand, one at a time. After laying them out on raw steel, Jeffrey cuts his designs using an electric plasma torch. Pieces are then assembled with a MIG welder, finished with various buffings and sandings, and finally adorned with stainless steel accents and/or stained glass.
Jeffrey, a native Californian, lives with his wife Charlene and their son, Matthew, in Venice Beach and works out of his studio in Rancho Dominguez, California. He is never without a pen and a scrap of paper, and is constantly doodling and drawing things just waiting to be cut out of steel.
