Lauren Cole Abrams
I have been fascinated with realism and Trompe L'oeil ('to fool the eye') painting for most of my thirty five year career as an artist. Originally a graphic illustrator and designer, I evolved from that to painting with acrylic paint directly on furniture I designed myself. During a span of ten years or so I created pieces for the Nieman Marcus, Levenger, Circa, and Plummer McCutcheon Catalogs, and sold my work through a number of fine art and craft galleries across the country. I was also commissioned to create an original ornament for the White House Christmas Tree Collection.
Since taking a year off to attend the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, I have been honing my skills with oil paint, and exploring some slightly surreal painting styles. I love doing custom commissions of people and pets dressed in Renaissance and Medieval costumes, and have been working on a series of vintage toy paintings.
